The World's Most Ancient Craft

Grasse has held the title of perfume capital of the world since the 16th century. Its singular microclimate — sheltered from the Mistral by the Esterel massif, warmed by the Mediterranean, cooled at altitude — produces a Centifolia rose, a jasmine grandiflorum, and a lavender that cannot be replicated elsewhere on earth. The rose de mai blooms for three weeks each May. Harvested before dawn to preserve the scent molecules that evaporate in heat, a single kilogram of its absolute requires five tonnes of fresh flowers and costs over €6,000. It is the most precious raw material in all of perfumery.

The great parfumeurs of Chanel, Dior, Guerlain, and Hermès have all returned to Grasse for their finest materials. The town's laboratories, fields, and distilleries represent an accumulated knowledge that is irreplaceable — and we give you direct access to it.

A professional perfumer — a nez, a nose — trains for a minimum of seven years before composing independently. They memorise over 3,000 raw materials by smell alone, understand organic chemistry at a molecular level, and develop a sensory intelligence so refined that they can identify the exact provenance, harvest year, and extraction method of an oil from a single breath. This is the person whose full attention is yours for the day.

We arrange nothing that is produced for tourists. Every atelier we work with receives our guests as they receive their own apprentices — with the same seriousness, the same materials, and the same standard. What you create will be genuinely, irreversibly yours.

Private Sessions — By Appointment

Parfumerie Sessions — Complete

Every session is private. No other guests, no shared experience, no compromised attention. The perfumer and the atelier are yours alone.

Signature Fragrance Creation
Full Day

Signature Fragrance Creation

An entire day in a private atelier with a master perfumer — mapping your olfactory identity, selecting raw materials from a library of 500+ ingredients, building your accord note by note, and leaving with a handblown flacon containing a fragrance that belongs to no catalogue on earth. Your formula is preserved and can be reproduced indefinitely.

Rose de Mai Field Harvest
May Only

Rose de Mai Field Harvest

The most coveted experience in Grasse. The Centifolia rose blooms for three weeks each May — harvested before 10am while the dew still holds the scent molecules. You join the pickers at dawn, harvest alongside the growers, and witness the flowers being processed within hours. Rarer than the finest vintage.

The Educated Nose
Half Day

The Educated Nose

A structured olfactory training session — the same curriculum used in the first year of a perfumery school, compressed into an intensive half-day with a professional nez. You learn the fragrance families, the vocabulary of scent, and begin to train the sensory intelligence that most people never develop. Transformative.

Steam Distillation Laboratory
Private Session

Steam Distillation Laboratory

A working distillation session in a historic Grasse laboratory — witnessing the transformation of raw lavender, rose, or jasmine into essential oil through copper alembic distillation. You participate in the process, smell the oil as it separates, and understand why a kilogram of rose absolute costs more than gold.

Historic Maison Access
By Appointment

Historic Maison Access

Private access to one of Grasse's legendary fragrance houses — established in the 18th century, their archives contain raw material samples, historic formulae, and objects connected to the founding of modern perfumery. A tour led by the house perfumer through spaces and collections not shown to the public.

Bespoke Wedding Fragrance
Couples

Bespoke Wedding Fragrance

The most intimate wedding atelier we offer. A shared day composing interlocking fragrances — distinct yet harmonious, each expressing one person, together expressing the relationship. The fragrance is then used on wedding stationery, diffused in the venue, and worn on the day. A scent memory that outlasts everything else.

Precious Raw Materials Masterclass
Collectors

Precious Raw Materials Masterclass

An intimate session focused on the world's most extraordinary perfumery materials — Oud from Cambodia and Laos, Iris butter from Florence, Jasmine Grandiflorum from Grasse, Ambergris, Rose Absolute, Orris Root. Their cultivation, extraction, global trade, and their role in the architecture of the great classic fragrances.

Provence Olfactory Journey
Full Itinerary

Provence Olfactory Journey

A private two-day immersion in the aromatic landscape of Provence — lavender fields at altitude, a garrigue walk identifying wild thyme, cistus, and rosemary, a private distillery visit, a lunch at an estate fragrance garden, and a final afternoon composing a fragrance built entirely from the scents encountered across the journey.

The Fragrance Pyramid

Every great fragrance unfolds in three movements — a narrative arc that lasts from the first spray to the final whisper on skin eight hours later. Understanding this structure is the foundation of everything that happens in the atelier.

01Top NotesFirst 15–30 minutes

Bergamot, Sicilian Lemon, Neroli, Petitgrain, Grapefruit, Pink Pepper, Cardamom

The opening — volatile, sparkling, immediate. They create the critical first impression that draws someone close enough to discover what lies beneath. The finest perfumers consider top notes a promise: they must signal what the heart will deliver.

02Heart Notes2–4 hours

Rose Absolute, Jasmine Grandiflorum, Ylang-Ylang, Géranium Bourbon, Iris Butter, Lavender, Turkish Rose Otto, Tuberose

The soul of the fragrance — the emotional core that defines its identity and character. Heart notes emerge as the top notes dissipate and carry the narrative of the scent for the majority of its life on skin. Where the perfumer's artistry is most fully expressed.

03Base Notes6–24 hours

Sandalwood Mysore, Vetiver Haiti, Musk, Cambodian Oud, Ambergris, Labdanum, Benzoin, Tonka Bean, Patchouli

The anchor and the memory — the deepest layer, emerging last and remaining longest. Base notes give the fragrance its tenacity, its warmth, and the quality that makes it linger on fabric and skin for hours after the top and heart have completed their journey.

A Day in the Atelier

From the first breath of raw bergamot to the final bottling — every stage of a signature fragrance session, in sequence.

1
Before Arrival

Olfactory Questionnaire

We send a detailed questionnaire crafted by the perfumer — exploring your earliest scent memories, the materials that comfort or unsettle you, the moods you associate with fragrance, and the identity you want your scent to project. The perfumer studies your responses before you arrive.

2
Morning Session

Raw Materials & Vocabulary

The day begins with a guided journey through individual raw materials — smelling each in isolation, learning the vocabulary, identifying the families (floral, woody, oriental, chypre, fougère). A training session that permanently changes how you perceive fragrance.

3
Late Morning

Accord Building

You begin constructing your base — selecting from the materials encountered in the morning, guided by the perfumer's chemistry knowledge and aesthetic intuition. The accord is built from the bottom up: base, then heart, then top.

4
Afternoon

Refinement & Composition

The fragrance undergoes multiple rounds of adjustment on blotter and skin — the perfumer correcting ratios, adding complexity, removing what doesn't serve. You smell each evolution on your own skin chemistry, which changes the fragrance uniquely for you.

5
Final Hour

Bottling, Naming & Formula

Your composition is transferred into a handblown glass flacon, sealed with a gold stopper, and labelled with the name you choose. The perfumer writes your formula in a leather-bound card — exact ratios, ingredient names, the complete record of your scent.
